The Flying Duck

by - August 08, 2018

Last month when we spent the weekend in Glasgow for the Vegan Festival we also managed to visit The Flying Duck for dinner. Earlier in the evening, we stopped by Stereo for a drink which was great since all the drinks are vegan there too so no checking Barnivore when you want to try something different!

The Flying Duck is an entirely vegan basement bar in the centre of Glasgow. There was a lot of choice on the menu with plenty of options that were different from the usual. I went for a 'Macurrito' which was exactly what it sounds like! A burrito filled with macaroni cheese topped with crispy onions and bacon style bits, yummy! The others went for the 'Oh Canada' burger (seitan quarter pounder with maple fried bacon, caramalized red onion and slaw), which I'm told was really delicious but would've been nice with chips for a more indulgent meal, and the Chilli Cheese Dog - the menu said 'don't get if you are wearing white' which made sense as although tasty, it did not look easy to eat! We didn't stay for dessert but the choices looked so good, especially the hard shakes! I'd love to try the Raspberry Tipple next time. As well as a fab selection of food and drinks, The Flying Duck is known for live music and events. They have a monthly market too - The Big Vegan Fete which promises to be packed with vegan stalls for your every need and sounds like a lot of fun! The next one is on Saturday 11th August.
